Why do you think Training and Development should be done hand in hand? To explain one question,training implies a process of upgrading an individual’s knowledge,skills and competencies and development has a long term view,where the provision of learning opportunities is relayed to increase one’s capacity to undertake more challenging and complex responsibilities.
Good training programs assists with ensuring that the right people are doing the job,maintaining a minimum labour turnover of employees and boasts the organization in growing their profits sustainably. On the other hand hiring skilled individuals within the market can be costly to an organization,furthermore from a business perspective it is cost-efficient to train your staff to gain the knowledge and understanding as a skilled worker that is initially in the required field.
In a nutshell,I will like to mention,”Companies that learn fastest and adapt well to changing environments perform the best over time”Training is information a individual’s receive for one’s disposal,however without development of oneself let’s say in an organisation in terms of the ability to grow in an organisation,how to do someone possess those qualities? The answer is a step by step process,a stage you have to pass through like the natural progression from a previous,simpler,or embryonic stage to a later,more complex or adult stage in your career product or service life,a process where you advance as time permits.
Though you may train some one on the various features of for example a mobile smart phone,you also have to in-cooperate developing one’s mind to go sell those phones to customers in an engaging and welcoming manner as our parents always say,”Good manners earns you respect and dignity in today’s society.”Personal growth will follow as times goes by.Essentially it is important for organisations presently to correlate the training and development as one rather than singular.
I will tell a story as to why it is efficient.John was a sales man as a phone company at the time.He worked for the top brand Nokia.A lady by the name of Paula came to purchase a phone at the Nokia outlet store which was in Atlanta,Georgia.Paula being a elderly woman whom don’t know anything about mobile phones,all she knew was that her grandson is in England on a scholarship to a top University playing football and she want to maintain that daily connection with him.Furthermore,Paula arrives at the Nokia outlet and was confronted by John who was very polite and greeted her in a well mannerly order.Paula was elated with his customer service skills and for some strange reason John reminded her of her grandson.Well that blossom into Paula wanted John alone to seek her wants,despite it had many sales persons on the shop floor.
The connection of customer to sales personnel were there.A sale to be completed was near,however then the questions came in,”Son please tell me a little about this model phone” John was baffled,John customer service was rated five star reviews,however he did not perfect the art of explaining the features and the actual selling points of a smart phone yet and John has two years working experience with the company.John went on to say,well it is a smart phone,the phone comes with a year warranty and you can obtain a discount if that is the phone you will like to purchase.To Paula surprise she wanted more detailed information,as her grandson was overseas.She wanted to know things like,the camera quality of the phone,the durability of the phone,the battery life and etc.If these points would have been conveyed to Paula she personally said,”She would have purchase the phone.”The connection was there as mentioned previously,the training aspect was lacking with John,unfortunately a sale was not closed due to the negative impact the customer felt.
In conclusion is of utmost importance to present Training and Development in any organisation whether it be small scale business or large scale business.The skill level will always be available and the company’s profit will yield maximum benefits.Invest in a new opportunity companies,it worth the cost!
