Crisis of Store Owners -vs- Online Stores

In today’s world, technology is at our fingertip for easy disposal.The younger generation of today are the technological wizz of tomorrow.The youths are growing up in a ‘tweet world’ where they are comprehending the necessity for advancement on social platforms.

I vividly recalled last year November month, I returned from Florida on vacation and I were in an excess of US currency,I went to a clothes store in the chaguanas district to change the funds to my local currency.The lady in the store who did the conversion of the monies for me said to me, “how are you?” I replied,”great!” she then said to me abruptly,”Online businesses impact negatively om my business,having me to incur a loss” all I did at that moment was take heed as to what she had said.I did not gave a comment.Growing up I liked the idea of saving and investing your money you worked for.In my mind I wanted to gather some information about what was mentioned to me from the lady in the store.

On leaving the store I said to myself,”Let me go to trincity mall and just walk around and let me do my own survey as to how many stores still in existence.’’Upon entering trincity mall from the south west entrance I was alarmed to discover the first store at my right was vacant,that was my popular flower store I used to purchase my flowers,chocolate and such for that special someone.Displayed on the glass was a note that said, “Relocated to valpark shopping mall.”Finally,I completed my survey,I discovered that in trincity mall they had 16 vacant store spots for rent,for that period.

I said to myself why is that? The answer I will state that store owners are too complacent.They lack creativity,besides lacking that vital tool.Most of the store owners are not developing themselves where technology is concerned.They possess the mis-conception the era they have grown in were not a technological era so they don’t need to possess that skill to compete in the advancement today’s market,inaddition they refuse to be acquainted with and advertise on social platforms, their businesses.

When I said social platforms,I refer to facebook,instagram,twitter,snap-chat,google my business,whatsapp,text messages and so on.

Why these outlined are so superior in business today? is that they are no charge to utilize these platforms, the answer is yes,essentially you simply have to pay your internet service provider,which is a minimum fee for a business owner on a monthly timely basis to avoid disconnection of the

service provided.

Going forward,presently I have my online clothes store,where my main focus is of the selling of women clothes for example dresses, jumpsuits,two pieces and swim-wear

I use instagram,facebook and whatsapp to my advantage to execute my daily business.Of recent I frequently were asked the question,”What is your website address,some may mention also,where can I download your app.?” Carefully note that the individuals that asked what is your website,rather than if you have a website,these customers have the philisophy that if a business owner do not possess a webiste or application the business is not a legitimate one or it is not well trusted.In essence this will result in low sales,which may then translate into low profits,leading to closure of store as a result no profit is made to re-invest into the business.

When store owners complain that online stores are “crashing them” the repetitive term they love to use.It is yourself is the issue.You are not being creative,if you maybe be on the social platform,you may not be providing enough content of the business itself and the items you sell.At times a business needs to revive itself by re-branding which is not a bad plot.The changing of the theme of the business,a different colour in the store to brighten the store itself,a new company logo,new pricing strategies,moreover these are.just some of the few aspects you can utilize to rebrand your store.

In conclusion I will like to state that store owners,please do not blame e-commerce business for loss in sales or closure in business.If you have to blame anyone,blame yourself.The world is transitioning into a more technological era and soon they will not be any need for physical stores anymore.Be creative,develop a skill-set mentality,research your market and execute in the best possible manner and in so doing I guarantee you that you will reap results.
